It’s a new year and and I’m feeling inspired. Sounds cheesy, but let me have it. I’ve reflected on the amazing dog pro’s I’ve been able to work with over the years, and this past year was simply exceptional. I joined a mentoring group that has been nothing but life changing. (shout out to my Pet Pro people! y’all are amazing). In this past year, the PPG started behavior teams and I quickly jumped at the chance to join my local team. Our local SPCA has two (yes, 2!) veterinarian behaviorists on staff that I’ve been able to collaborate with with some of my clients. They have always been so kind and open, allowing for real communication and not making a client feel like they have to play translator between us. Now when I saw a post put out by one of those VBs inviting our local dog pros to meet up, I nearly jumped out of my seat. Yes please!! Like yea, it’s very cool to be able to email, but meeting in person, no less a bunch of other like minded dog pros, hell ya! Let’s just say it was great and warm and all the good things you want in a dog professional group. Another pro dog pro group was formed with the goal of being able to share case studies and get various perspective and insight onto difficult cases. Let’s just say, I’m super stoked to be part of all these groups! I know I’m supposed to be drawing boundaries around personal and professional time, but somehow these groups seem to blend that line as I truly find them so rewarding for both my professional and personal growth.
So in saying all that, I want to contribute to this amazing community of dog pros. I’m thinking of starting a series where I highlight one dog pro (or a few?) and discuss what is inspiring them, how they got into the world of dogs and animal care, and see where the conversation goes. You know me, this is meant to be fun, nothing formal, and hate to even have to spell this out, but absolutely no financial incentive. I truly just want to high light the cool dog pros I do know, get to know others better, and hey, maybe reach out to others I don’t know. Ambitious? Yes, but why not try. Again, it’s the new year and I’m feeling inspired and maybe, a little sentimental? Well, watch this space and I hope to get this series going soon.
